Issue/Introduction

There are 2 AutoSys agent installed on a single server, which were installed using the AutoSys media. When upgrading using AutoSys media, BOTH agents get upgraded.

We only want to upgrade one of the agents, not both.

Example:
/opt/CA/WorkloadAutomationAE/SystemAgent/WA_AGENT
/opt/CA/WorkloadAutomationAE/SystemAgent/WA_AGENT1

What is the best way to handle this?

Resolution

If you do not wish to upgrade all of the agents, then you will need to take backup of the agent that you wish to NOT upgrade and then restore it after the upgrade completes.

  • Create backup tar ball of agent
    tar -covf /tmp/SystemAgent/WA_AGENT1.tar /opt/ca/WorkloadAutomationAE/SystemAgent/WA_AGENT1
  • Launch the setup and allow upgrade to complete.
  • After upgrade completes, remove the WA_AGENT1 from the SystemAgent directory
    rm -rf /opt/ca/WorkloadAutomationAE/SystemAgent/WA_AGENT1
  • Now, restore the original WA_AGENT1 directory.
    cd /opt/CA/WorkloadAutomationAE/SystemAgent
    cat /tmp/SystemAgent/WA_AGENT1.tar | tar -xovf
    -
  • Confirm the WA_AGENT1 has been restored.
    /opt/CA/WorkloadAutomationAE/SystemAgent/WA_AGENT1/cybAgent -vv
