Scheduler Job Management

Issue/Introduction

Scheduler Job Management uses the CA-XPS (Cross-Platform Scheduling Common Component) to track distributed jobs (such as those from Autosys) to Scheduler for submission on z/OS.

When Scheduler lost connection to Autosys, the following messages are seen in the CA XPS job log:

CAXPS927E (TKS) CCI ERROR FUNC=SEND RC=08 CC=00 TEXT=NO ERROR IN RC             
CAXPS905E XPS SUB-TASK ENDED PREMATURELY: TRACKING SENDER  (CAXPTKST) TCBCMP=000
CAXPS104I ALL CROSS-PLATFORM SCHEDULING SUB-TASKS TERMINATED                    
CAXPS105I CROSS-PLATFORM SCHEDULING ROUTER (XPS) HAS TERMINATED                 
CACX017E CA-XPS TASK ENDED UNEXPECTEDLY                                         
CACX028E LOST CONTACT WITH NODE node_name   

 

Environment

Scheduler Job Management release 11.0 

Resolution

Issue the following operating system console modify command to re-establish the connection:

  XPLAT XPS=START 

Recommendation:  Set up automation to monitor for "CACX017E CA-XPS TASK ENDED UNEXPECTEDLY" and the action is to issue command XPLAT XPS=START.
