CachePulse not working for WIndows Updates and Adobe Creative Suite
The CachePulse technology delivers the real-time intelligence for effective content categorization and caching. You can be confident that the CacheFlow solution will continuously sustain high bandwidth savings and improve user experience over the long haul. CachePulse tracks the ever-changing web, so as new sites emerge or popular sites change how they deliver content, new caching rules and instruction updates are automatically delivered from the CachePulse cloud to the CacheFlow appliance.
However, some of the specific application updates may not be cached properly due to use of encrypted, proprietary protocols between server and application that Proxy cannot intercept or any interception made could cause a packet malformed on client side.
RECOMMENDATION FOR CACHING MICROSOFT UPDATES:
Microsoft Windows product updates should not be proxied or cached on Edge SWG (ProxySG) as it may cause issue with fetching the updates correctly. The cache function will not operate correctly. The Edge SWG (ProxySG) appliance cannot cache update as the file size will be different depending on what updates that particular file contains for each PC. The only way the proxy can reliably cache this is if the network installer is used (the complete Service Pack image), which will not be offered by Windows Update.
KB: Microsoft Windows Updates fail to install through Edge SWG (ProxySG) or Advanced Secure Gateway https://knowledge.broadcom.com/external/article/166719/microsoft-windows-updates-fail-to-instal.html
A recommended approach from Microsoft is to optimize updates by having a Branchcache set on Windows Server in internal network or using a Peer-to-Peer updates sharing
RECOMMENDATION FOR CACHING ADOBE CREATIVE SUITE:
This also relates to Adobe Creative Cloud application which may not work properly when the connection is being intercepted https://knowledge.broadcom.com/external/article/168336/creative-cloud-application-not-working-o.html .
You may install an internal cache update server from Adobe to deliver updates among the internal network.
RECOMMENDATION FOR CACHING CHROME EXTENSIONS:
In regards to the Chrome extensions to be cached for the Chrome Webstore, the SSL-Interception needs to be enabled in order to cache content of sub urls that clients are visiting.
SSL-Interception layer:
Please be aware that the CachePulse usually is set to auto config and have limitations in terms of VA sizing used
