Issue/Introduction

Our Rally workspace manages multiple projects/teams simultaneously. We would like to have a unified view of the progress, key metrics, and overall health. A consolidated dashboard can provide our users with a holistic understanding of reports using user stories, defects.

In this issue, we aim to create a dashboard that seamlessly pulls data for the users of both projects.

Environment

SAAS

Cause

In Rally, there is a limitation regarding dashboard/custom page & apps. They can either ‘follow Global Project Settings’ or require the user to ‘Choose a Specific Single Project’ to display data. Either way users are only able to select a single project & its children.

Ultimately, it is not possible to select projects that are not in the same project hierarchy.

Resolution

NOTE: Please perform the suggested changes only under the guidance of the subscription / workspace admins.

In order to fulfill the request for sharing a dashboard for two individual projects into a single dashboard can be achieved only by establishing a hierarchy of these projects.  (Set a parent project within them).

STEPS: (Project A & Project B)

  • Make sure the users should have access to both the projects A & B
  • Make Project 'B' a child of Project 'A' (Edit the Project 'B' admin page and set project A as its parent)
  • The dashboard will be available to your project users, and it will start displaying the results/artifacts of both A & B projects.  (Just set the default project hierarchy to Child only)
