Issue/Introduction

When the same SNMP trap is received by the SpectroSERVER 25 or more times in a row, the logs written to the NOTIFIER output file stop after the 25th time and no more are written. The file location is:

$SPECROOT/NOTIFIER/NOTIFIER.OUT 

Some sites use the NOTIFIER.OUT to identify alarm & trap occurrence via automated scripts. So if only a maximum of 25 instances of the same trap alarm are written, this prevents the scripts from identifying all instances that occurred.

Cause

Every alarm maintains the originated event list and at maximum the list can go is 25 entries.

So this is why you will only see 25 instances in the NOTIFIER.OUT.

Resolution

There is no configuration that can change this. It is therefore recommended to use officially supported methods for reading or identifying the alarms/events and the number of occurrences, such as the Spectrum WebServices API as detailed in the following TechDocs guide:
