What is the relationship between Disk™ Backup and Restore and DFDSS? Do I have to install DFDSS to use Disk™ Backup and Restore?

Resolution

Disk™ Backup and Restore invokes DFDSS as an I/O method via UIM (User Interaction Modules) to process certain types of data sets. DFDSS is invoked by Sysparm USEDSSIO for: HFS, LDS, PDSE and HWCOMPR.

No need to install DFDSS, if above types of data sets are not processed.
