SASSBSTR (BTI) receives CA-7.022 and CAL2101I when password is longer than 8 characters

Issue/Introduction

When changing the password for /LOGON in the SASSBSTR (BTI)  job from 8 digits (characters) to a long password exceeding 8 characters,  
the following error messages occur: 

CA-7.022 - r12.1       LOGON FORMAT INCORRECT AT BT1    
CAL2101I - LOGON FORMAT INCORRECT  

Can  /LOGON support passphrase via JCL?  Is there any other command that allows passphrase to logon
to CA 7 and demand job via JCL?

Environment

CA 7   12.1  12.0 

Resolution

The passphrase is not supported via JCL for /LOGON.  The password limit for BTI is 8 characters.  There is no other command that can be used to allow passphrases to logon to CA 7 and demand job(s) via JCL.  It is a best practice to not put passwords in the external communicators such as the BTI job.
