Error "Failed to install policy: An unexpected server error occurred" when Installing Exception

Issue/Introduction

You are using Management Center to manage Exception Pages to your EdgeSWG (ProxySGs) and seeing following error to target SG.   

Failed to install policy: An unexpected server error occurred

 

Environment

Management Center 3.3.x and above

EdgeSWG (ProxySG) 7.3 and above

Administrators already familiar how Exception Pages work in EdgeSWG. 

Cause

Corrupt or duplicate exceptions may have been installed previously to target EdgeSWG.

Resolution

Need to reset / restore the default exception to target EdgeSWG device.  This can be done by installing a fresh EdgeSWG default exception. 

Additional Information

• Custom exception page can also be installed to EdgeSWG direct
• Attach file named "default_exception.txt"  is a list of CLI commands that have default exceptions taken from SGOS 7.3.18.  
• Restoring default exceptions to EdgeSWG running older/  EOL version of SGOS (e.g. 6.x and below) may require a complete restore factory default
