Issue/Introduction

XCOM task abended with a U0149 when being stopped and performing a cleanup process using XCOMUTIL to delete records older than "nn" amount of days from the XCOMHIST. The output of the task also shows the following messages:

Environment

XCOM r12.0 for z/OS

Cause

The step in XCOMUTIL that defines/builds the AIX's and Paths for the new XCOMHIST uses IDCAMS. 

IBM IDCAMS calls SORT(SYNCSORT or DFSORT) to build the Aix's and Path datasets for the XCOMHIST. 

Resolution

In this case and based on the DFSORT messages received, you will need to determine why SORT cannot run on the system and correct that in order for the XCOMUTIL and IDCAMS can run successfully.
