Issue/Introduction

When performing an Explore or Correlate operation on an Azure Endpoint, the process fails with a java.lang.NullPointerException in the RESTUtils.parseNestedJsonValue method. This error disrupts user synchronization and endpoint management.

Environment

Identity Manager 14.5 and 15

Cause

The error occurs because the Azure Connector is configured to use token-based pagination, which is incompatible with the specific JSON response structure returned during the Explore/Correlate operation, leading to a null reference during parsing.

Resolution

  1. Navigate to the Identity Manager Management Console.
  2. Select the Endpoints or Connector configuration menu.
  3. Locate the specific Azure Endpoint configuration.
  4. Access the Pagination Settings section.
  5. Change the pagination strategy from Token-based to Cursor-based.

  6. Save the configuration changes.
  7. Trigger a new Explore/Correlate operation to verify that the error is resolved.
