Issue/Introduction

You have noticed large transfers occurring from a Broadcom owned domain to the Messaging Gateway. The domain is one of the domains listed in this article:

 

 

Cause

The Messaging Gateway is trying to download the initial WebPulse database cache. The initial WebPulse database cache is typically around 2 GB in size. If you are seeing larger sizes, potentially much larger, it may be that the database is downloading but not fully completing the download. Such an event will cause the download attempt to occur again many times per hour until the download has completed.

Resolution

Review your networking controls to make sure port 80 (HTTP) and port 443 (HTTPS) communications are allowed to the domains listed WebPulse integration article. If you are not able to allow this traffic or need to halt the network traffic while investigating, the article provides steps needed to disable WebPulse integration:
