Does AppNeta voice testing monitor existing VOIP calls?
No, AppNeta's Voice Tests do not work in this way, as they perform their own monitoring to targets you specify.
AppNeta offers both "Voice Assessments" and "Voice Tests".
Voice Assessments are when AppNeta monitoring points send delivery traffic that looks and behaves like VOIP packets. The key benefit of this feature is that we can target non VOIP capable destinations, the testing is done using ICMP, and relies on diagnostic techniques to infer voice quality.
Voice Tests - are only available between two AppNeta (voice capable) appliances, so all hardware monitoring points, and the following Software Monitoring Points:
With Voice tests, we are using actual voice codecs and protocols, and setting up a call between the source and target. So you may have two appliances, and they will run 25 concurrent voice calls between each other for the duration of the test. These features themselves are from the monitoring points generating their own voice test or voice assessment data. These features do not monitor any existing voip calls that may be happening already within the network.
