Modify JasperSoft Chart Legend

Issue/Introduction

When using an attribute in a JasperSoft chart report, the details shown in the used attribute(s) are displayed as the legend of the chart.

Need a way to edit the legend to make the details more ‘user friendly’

Environment

JasperSoft 7.9 and 8.1.1

All Supported Operating Systems

Resolution

After checking with Tibco directly, it was confirmed that since the legend labels are the actual values which represent the data, we can not customize the label text in any way.

However, we can configure the legend label to give more meaningful text. Refer to the screenshot below:

1. Open the underlying AdHoc View of the report (should be in EDIT mode)

2. On the right hand side, under Format Visualization -> enable the highlighted settings to get more readable/understandable description

3. Save the view and report.

You may customize other formatting in regards to the legend, but this is all that can be presently done.
