CDM 7.11 and 7.20 GUI crashes upon opening - error in KERNELBASE.dll

Issue/Introduction

I am unable to open the CDM GUI in Infrastructure Manager on some machines in my environment.

Raw Configure works fine, and Admin Console works fine, but the IM GUI will not open at all.

Windows Event Viewer shows a KERNELBASE.dll error.

 

Cause

This is related to a defect which will occur on some systems which have network share monitors enabled and is related to the password encryption for the network share definitions.

Resolution

This will be resolved in the next release of CDM after 7.20 - as of March 2024 there is no specific ETA available yet.

As a workaround prior to release, use Admin Console or Raw Configure to make changes.  If you require the IM GUI you may temporarily downgrade the CDM probe on these systems to 6.71, make changes, and then upgrade the probe again.
