DX UIM 23.4.x vs DX UIM 20.4 CU10. Which version should I upgrade to?

Issue/Introduction

We are running DX 23.4 and we noticed a new release of Cumulative update DX UIM 20.4CU10. Are the fixes delivered in 20.4CU10 included in 23.4? 

We are planning to upgrade to the latest version of UIM. DX UIM 20.4CU10 was delivered after DX UIM 23.4, which version should we upgrade to?

Fixes and critical updates published in UIM 20.4CU10 are already included in UIM 23.4. If you are running DX UIM 23.4 you have the latest and most updated version of DXUIM and this is the version we recommend using for those customers who can afford the major upgrade from 20.4. 

DX UIM 23.4 is the new Major Release and the way forward for the DX UIM product line. New features, new compatibilities, and development of the product will follow the 23.4 line. We expect cumulative updates for 23.4 periodically- They will include new defect resolutions and new features. (Eg. DX UIM 23.4CU1)

DX UIM 20.4.* is still supported on all its CUs, so we will maintain this version with only security updates and critical bug fixes. in march 2024, we released a Cumulative Update for UIM 20.4. (CU10).

In summary:

For DX UIM 20.4.* we will only release bug fixes and security updates until this version becomes EOL

For DX UIM 23.4 we will release bug fixes, security updates, and new features in the future Cumulative Updates. 

 

NOTES:

•  DX UIM 23.4 is the GA version and would receive priority in terms of fixes, updates, maintenance etc.
•  The Frequency of CUs released on 23.4 would be higher than what is expected on 20.4.*
•  Published in March 2024: DX UIM 23.4.1 is available: UIM Server 23.4 - Cumulative Update 1  - Operator Console 23.4 - Cumulative Update 1
