Why is TMSCLEAN not scratching a tape that has an EXPDT that is in the past?

 

Resolution

 

TMSCLEAN will not scratch a tape if the EXPDT is in the past if there are any of the following problems.

1.  There is an OUTCODE in the TMC record. The tape must be checked in, or must be brought back from the vault before the tape will be eligible for scratch.

2.  There are pointer problems with the tape.  Run TMSPTRS or APEC and correct the errors.

3.  You have OCTLG NO and you have SCRCAT set to NO or GDG in the TMOOPTxx member of CTAPOPTN.  The tape is still cataloged.  You must uncatalog the data set before it can be scratched.
