Sending email fails after setting email credentials in DX Netsop Portal Web.UI

Issue/Introduction

After setting up email under Administration->Confiuration Settings->Email server, including Authentication Properties, we can see an Authentication ERROR in the PORTAL_INSTALLDIR/PerformanceCenter/DM/logs/DMService.log

We verified the email serve username and password being entered are correct.

Environment

DX Netops Performance Management 23.3.3 and earlier

Cause

Defect: DE582121 

The mail server password is encrypted twice when it is input via the web UI

Resolution

This issue is fixed in DX Netops 23.3.4 and later.

Additional Information

WORKAROUND

Use <PORTAL_INSTALL_DIR>/PerformanceCenter/SsoConfig Remote Value settings to set the email server password.

Property: SMTP Password (Remote Value)
Value:
Example: any_valid_password
Description: This field specifies password to use when the email server challenges a Simple Mail Transfer Protocol request.  The SMTP Authentication Username must also be set.
Enter r to reset the value, u to update to new value > u
Enter \q to quit or \b to go back to previous menu
Enter new value >ENTER THE PASSWORD HERE

After entering, use \q to quit.
