Issue/Introduction

Unable to start MySQL on the NetOps Portal due to an insufficient permissions error when writing to the <install_dir>/MySql/data/<hostname>.err file

Environment

All supported releases of DX NetOps Performance Management

Cause

There are more than one entry in the /etc/passwd file for the user named 'mysql'.  This is the user that is trying to start MySQL.

Resolution

Investigate and figure out why there is a second entry for the same user and purge the entry for the UID that corresponds to the one that is not necessary.
