Ghost64.exe unable to obtain image of UFS disk drive

Issue/Introduction

While attempting to capture an image of a UFS (Universal Flash Storage) device, the following error may be observed:

Error finding resident Volume  Info attribute in FILE_VOLUME MFT record(480)

Images can be acquired without problems with similar computer models that use SSD drives for storage.

Environment

GSS 3.x

DS 8.x

Cause

FILE_VOLUME MFT is a table that stores the metadata of all files in the Windows OS file system NTFS.

This error indicates that this information cannot be read correctly.

Normally, this can be resolved by adding a driver, but for UFS disk drives, this information cannot be retrieved even after adding a driver, so it has been determined that there is a high possibility that the process is model-dependent.

Resolution

UFS disk drives are currently not supported as disk drive information cannot be obtained.
