Adding attributes to a Studio Object in Postgres causes deadlocks

Issue/Introduction

Summary: Postgres Environment only. Performance and system freezing issue. Adding attributes in Postgres/GCP causes deadlocks. 

Steps to Reproduce:

1. On a busy production system login to classic and go to Studio 
2. Add attributes to a frequently used object like the Project object 
3. At times there will be a deadlock in the database if users are in the system when the attribute is added 

Expected Results: Adding attributes does not cause a database deadlock and application stall. 

Actual Results: Adding attributes causes a database deadlock and application stall. 

Workaround: Perform the Studio updates after business hours.

Resolution

A strategy has been implemented to prevent system deadlocks in Release 16.2.1 for a Postgres environment.
