SSL Visibility Appliance Software

Issue/Introduction

With the release of SSLv 4.5.13.1 SSLv has introduced a new action to accommodate rising memory utilization that some users experience with the uWSGI when communicating with Nginx, the web server utilized for the SSL Visibility Graphic User Interface.

Cause

In certain deployments the memory utilization for uWSGI will increase over a period of time and may not fully release all the allocated memory.  In these instances it may cause instability for the SSL Visibility appliance resulting in the box becoming unresponsive.

Resolution

In 4.5.13.1 SSLv release, when the memory usage reaches a pre-configured threshold for the uWSGI,  the user will be prompted with a notification in the GUI to restart the UI using the CLI command restart-gui. The notification looks like the screenshot below. This will also force currently logged users to logout.

This will be coupled with a notification in the System Log:

When the user receives these notifications they should SSH into the SSL Visibility appliance and restart the GUI with the "restart-ui"  command.

In the case that the high memory utilization decreases below the threshold, the the warning will be cleared on it's own, the notification will clear on it's own.

The restart-ui command can be issued with the CLI via SSH.  Information on the restart-ui command can be found at the link below:
