Issue/Introduction
Currently using Gen 8.6 and would like to know if it has an End Of Support or End Of Service (EOS) date? Is there a newer version of Gen already available?
Environment
Gen 8.6
Resolution
As of October 2025, Gen 8.6 has no End Of Support or End of Service(EOS) date announced. Going forward the latest information can be found on the Broadcom Support Portal Product Lifecycle page. NOTE: It is best to login to the portal first, otherwise when opening the above page login will first be prompted and the landing page will be different.
There are currently no plans to release a new version of Gen because Gen is following a Continuous Delivery model. Read more here: Gen™ 8.6 > Release Notes> Continuous Delivery Broadcom is continuing to invest in Gen. We continue to enhance Gen, but without the need to create a new release version. Instead, Gen 8.6 receives feature enhancements via PTFs. These smaller deliverables make it clearer what changes you are applying, let you apply changes in the priority you choose, and bring value to your business sooner. Gen could someday have a new version released, but that is not currently on the schedule. Many things influence the decision to create a new release version, including customer feedback and technical changes like schema updates or new incompatible hardware. As of today, customers prefer working with PTFs rather than a larger release with a new installation. Enhancements and fixes have been able to lay on top of existing Gen 8.6 functionality. Staying up to date on your Gen 8.6 PTFs is very important. We occasionally deliver a consolidation PTF/Service Level with cumulative PTFs of published features and fixes, but best practice is to apply PTFs as they are published. Small incremental changes are a best practice.
