Time entries are getting deleted automatically

Issue/Introduction

Entries in timesheets have been reported as being deleted automatically, without the end users doing it. A data extract of all timesheets and time entries for the affected period, taken before the incident was reported, show that there were entries against these timesheets. And that these timesheets were posted.

Cause

Exact cause is unknown.

Likely causes are as below:

1. The system contained a Gel Script that ran UPDATE statements against the PRTIMESHEET table, to approve timesheets. This could have been executed with an incorrect logic in the past that could have resulted in this scenario
2. Custom stored procedures with incorrect logic
3. Custom integrations, or third-party applications, with direct access to the Clarity database.

Resolution

It is recommended to use System Actions to approve timesheets. It is unsupported to execute UPDATE statements against out of the box tables.
