Rally: Project Admins’ Unable to Edit Shared Custom Dashboard

Issue/Introduction

Our project admin users are finding it difficult to make changes to these dashboards. This is a significant concern as these dashboards are crucial tools for tracking and managing various aspects of our projects.

The inability to edit these dashboards restricts our project admins from customizing them to better suit the needs of the project or to update them in response to changing project requirements. This limitation could potentially impact the effectiveness of our project management processes

Cause

This is a known limitation of Rally

Resolution

The administrative rights to modify a shared dashboard page do not extend to project administrators when the page is shared across multiple projects. The modification privileges remain solely with the user who originally created the dashboard, the workspace administrator, and the Rally subscription administrator.

This limitation is a known issue within the Rally system. To circumvent this, we recommend users create a duplicate of the original dashboard and distribute it within their individual projects. This approach will enable further customization and modifications in line with the specific requirements of each project.
