Issue/Introduction

We have noticed that after a SpectroSERVER restart or if the SpectroSERVER fails over to the secondary, that Spectrum changes the IP Addresses of different Virtual Host servers.  Why is Spectrum doing this?

Environment

Spectrum 22.x / 23.x

Cause

For Virtual Host devices, during a SpectroSERVER restart, Spectrum will check the Network Address from the DNS name lookup and assign the ip address based upon the results of the DNS request.

Resolution

The attribute that is responsible for this change is VMWARE_vmDNSLookonVNMRestart Attribute  (Attr ID :  0x056e0d10) of the Virtual Host Manager App model.  The default value of this attribute is TRUE. Virtual Host Manager App model can be found using  Locator --> Application Models --> By Name.

If you would like to disable the Network Address change by DNS lookup please change the attribute VMWARE_vmDNSLookonVNMRestart to FALSE.
