Want to know what level should be set for the AEFAD (Daemon) & AEFUF (Funnel) processes, so would like to understand what each level will include in the log files. The Gen documentation just indicates that 0 is no trace info through to 31 which is maximum.
Also, the Gen documentation shows the breakdown for AESTATS tracing (1= USER, 2= APPL, 4=AEFAD send/revc, 8=AEFAD CPU) so it would be helpful to know if there is a corresponding level of detail for the AEFAD & AEFUF processes so that can be recommended as a suitable level that will support issue investigation without taking up too much disk space.
Gen 8.6.3
Regarding the aefad (daemon) / aefuf (funnel) tracing levels (-t parameter). Other than what is specified in the technical documentation, we don't have any additional documentation on these levels. We note in our Gen 8.6 Technical Documentation that, "The least amount of information is provided with a value of 0, and the most information is provided with a value of 31. However, as this value is increased, the size of the file that is created increases up to -t 31. This size is an enormous amount of disk space is consumed."
Reference the Gen Technical Documentation regarding the Transaction Enabler:
Gen Transaction Enabler Documentation
We recommend using either 0 (zero), 15 or 31. Zero is no logging, 15 will capture errors, and 31 is the same as 15 but also captures data buffers. We would also recommend that in a production environment to keep the debug logging level to 0 (zero) as the intent of the tracing is for debugging purposes and is primarily used by Gen Support and Sustaining to debug issues.
The aefad/aefad trace level is different than the AESTATS levels that are used to monitor your environment. With aefad/aefuf tracing levels at 15 or 31, the logging will cause the log files to rapidly grow. It should be noted that you can also change the log levels while the aefad/aefuf are running using the aefc (aef client).
