Issue/Introduction

After upgrading to Messaging Gateway 10.9.0 from the Control Center Administration > Version > Updates page, login attempts to the Control Center return an HTTP ERROR 500 response:

Cause

As specified in the SMG 10.9.0 release notes, the upgrade of the Control Center system should be performed from the command line using the `update install` command. When updating from the Control Center GUI to version 10.9.0 without restarting the SMG appliance / virtual machine the Control Center web application cannot load the new libraries without a service restart.

Resolution

This issue can be resolved in one of two ways:

• Restart the Control Center web application service from the command line using the `service controlcenter restart` CLI command
• Restart the SMG appliance / virtual machine following the upgrade (preferred)
