Suppose you have an ad hoc view without a title and you generate a report from that ad hoc view.
If you modify the ad hoc view to add a title and try to save the ad hoc view, you receive a message popup stating that changes made in the ad hoc view will be refreshed in the report that depends from that ad hoc view.
However, when you open the report, the title does not appear.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Create a simple ad hoc view without a title
2. Generate the report from that ad hoc view
3. Add a title to the ad hoc view
4. You will see that the title change in the ad hoc view will not be reflected in the report.
This happens in any ad hoc view
1. If a report is generated from an ad hoc view WITHOUT a title (empty title or disabled), the report will never have a title. Any change on the ad hoc view title won't be reflected on the report.
2. If a report is generated from an ad hoc view WITH a title, the report will reflect that title. Any change on the ad hoc view title will be reflected on the report.
Why this difference in behavior?
JasperSoft 7.9, 8.1.1 and 8.1.2
All Supported Windows Operating Systems
Tibco confirmed that the described issue is specific to versions of JasperSoft preceding 8.1.2.
In the recent version of JasperSoft 9.0.0 and 8.2.0, the issue is resolved - the report titles are successfully added and updated in the underlying ad hoc reports.
