JAVA 17 support with the upcoming siteminder releases.

Issue/Introduction

Do we have any plan to support JAVA 17 with the upcoming/future Policy Server, Access Gateway and for Agent SDK releases?

Environment

Version and component: Applicable to the upcoming Policy Server, Access Gateway and for Agent SDK releases.

Resolution

NOTE: As of writing this document, the latest available version we have is the 12.8 SP8 release and this 12.8 SP8 release does NOT support JAVA 17.

We are planning to finish a 12.8.8.1 release at the end of March. Tentatively, we can confirm that It will support Java 17 for Policy Server, Access Gateway and for Agent SDK as well. The QA team is currently testing the components with the JAVA 17 internally.
 
But the AdminUI component will not support Java 17 because the underlying IAM FWK from the IGA team only supports Java 8 (Oracle offers a free fix & vulnerability patch for Java 8, so for now the IGA team does not have a hard plan for newer Java in the FWK).

When you are planning to upgrade to the latest version which will be released in the future, please check the Product Platform Support Matrix (PSM) of that component and verify whether we are officially supporting JAVA 17 or not.

Also, If needed, please open a support ticket when you are planning to upgrade your environment to the upcoming releases and request for confirmation about JAVA 17 availability/support before upgrading the environment to the upcoming version.
