Issue/Introduction

You find the following error in Gateway event logs

ProxySG: XXXXXX event=casb_respmod_icap_error status=ICAP_COMMUNICATION_ERROR casb_region=US error=connection_failure error_details=Connection failure: Could not receive data due to dropped connection by the ICAP server.

Cause

This is an ongoing issue reported and debugged. Two engineering cases (ProxySG and WSS) were created for next action items.

The main ask under ProxySG was to add a retry logic if a connection with ICAP-Broker fails. 

Resolution

CASB is mentioned in the error, but as the traffic doesn't reach the broker, CASB isn't actually involved. The error specifies that the traffic was intended for CASB but did not arrive. 

As this an issue between ICAP-Broker and SG, ProxySG and WSS engineering have ownership of the continued effort.
