Issue/Introduction

Steps to migrate configuration and managed assets/groups list from one Management Center VA to another one.

Resolution

To move MC config from one appliance to the other, be it a physical or a virtual appliance, you would have to do a backup of the MC config/database, and then do a restore of the MC config/database, to the new MC-VA, which must be running the same version of  MC as the old MC-VA.

Note 1: On the new MC-VA, you will have to manually add the managed (network) devices, as was done on the old appliance.

Note 2: You can export your custom policies to files. Exporting policies is useful for sharing policies with other Data Center Security: Server Advanced administrators. You can export one or more policies. Exported policies are saved in .zip files. See the Tech. Doc. with the URL below, as reference. You can import the exported policies to the new MC-VA. Please see the second URL below, for the relevant Tech. Doc.
