Issue/Introduction

WA_Link connections are being created randomly in our network. We do not want these connections to be created automatically. We will create the manually if they are needed.

Environment

All DX NetOps Spectrum Releases

Cause

The DeviceDiscoverAfterReconfig(0x11d27) attribute  was set to Yes on the device model and "Create_WA_Link models"  was enabled in the VNM -> AutoDiscovery Control -> Modeling and Protocol Options sub-view

Resolution

The DeviceDiscoverAfterReconfig(0x11d27) attribute  was set to Yes on the device model and "Create_WA_Link models"  was enabled in the VNM -> AutoDiscovery Control -> Modeling and Protocol options. This was causing the device to run a discovery and create wa_link models when the configuration changed on the device.

The DiscoveryAfterReconfig attribute(0x11d27) controls weather or not the device will run a discovery after a configuration change occurs on the device.

To disable this on a device you can do the following:

  • Select the Device.
  • In the Component Details window for device, click on the attributes tab.
  • In the search dialog, enter "DeviceDiscoveryAfterReconfig
  • Double Click on the attribute.
  • In window on the right, click on the value.
  • Change that to "No" to disable discovery after reconfiguration.

To disable Create WA_Link model creation when a reconfiguration happens on the model you can do the following:

  •  Select the VNM model in the topology or list view.
  •  In the Information tab, expand the following sub-view  Autodiscovery Control -> Modeling and protocol options sub-view.
  • Set "Create WA_LINK models" to "No".
