Issue/Introduction

Remote Tools installation freezes at 72% - Installing... Java Runtime Environment

Environment

vApp 14.4 

Cause

Possible cause is previous installation files were not removed, see https://knowledge.broadcom.com/external/article?articleId=264645

Resolution

Check C:\Program Files\Virtual Appliance Tools if it exists and contains any files, remove them. 

Additional Information

If further troubleshooting is needed:

1. Set installler to DEBUG: https://knowledge.broadcom.com/external/article?articleId=53860

   • You might see error with java 2

     then you will need to start installation from cmd using

     <location of VirtualApplianceTools.exe> LAX_VM <location of java.exe>

     VirtualApplianceTools.exe LAX_VM "C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.8.0_<xxx>\bin\java.exe"

2. Make sure you have proper permissions -aka administrator.
3. In the "C:\Users\<username used>\AppData\Local\Temp\2\ecsinstall.log" should be installation log to check.
