Issue/Introduction

Planning to upgrade Agent for SharePoint to 12.8SP7, is this version supported with Policy Server 12.8SP5?

 

Resolution

The Policy Server version should be the same or higher than the Agent for SharePoint as per documentation (1):

    Policy Server requires the following prerequisites to operate with the Agent for SharePoint:

        Use a Release 12.8.07 or later Policy Server and Administrative UI.

The Agent for SharePoint 12.8SP7 needs the Policy Server 12.8SP7 for the following reasons:

• The version 12.8SP07 has many upgrades related to third parties and which have enabled changes to the Policy Server side, like the Xercers libraries handling all messages among the others;
  
  
• The Policy Server 12.8SP05 hasn't been certified with Agent for SharePoint 12.8SP07;
