Issue/Introduction

Seeing folders such as "8.5.6", "8.5.43", and leading to the latest folder "9.0.78".  Can the older folders be removed?

Environment

Release 17.x

CA Service Management

Cause

The additional Tomcat folders are retained as there may be a chance that other components besides SDM are using these folders. If SDM is configured correctly it should always use the latest tomcat. However, we cannot speak for any other components outside of SDM that may be leveraging these folders.

Resolution

Something one can try to do is rename the folders of interest or move them away to a different location to see how your production operates with the folders under such state of access. If after a period of time no issues present, the folders can then be deleted, while if an issue does occur, you can restore them.

Additional Information

To verify current Tomcat release:

For CA Service Desk, please review the NX.env located in the SDM install dir.  There will be a line such as this:

@NX_TOMCAT_INSTALL_DIR=X:\Program Files\CA\SC\tomcat\XXXX

XXXX is the Tomcat version.

For CA Service Catalog, open the RELEASE-NOTES file in the X:\Program Files\CA\Service Catalog\embedded\tomcat directory.  There will be a line that identifies the version of Tomcat in place
