Issue/Introduction

Image file uploads to Google Docs website using "Insert > Image" option is not getting detected on DLP agent.

Drag and drop of image files is getting detected as expected.

Environment

DLP 15.x

DLP 16.x

Cause

Google Docs website is using dynamically generated file input element which is not supported for detection with Symantec browser extension. If this works somehow, it is still not intended/supported feature of DLP agent to monitor such file uploads through browser extension model.

Resolution

With DLP 16.0 RU1, we have released a new monitoring method for Google Chrome : The Chrome Content Analysis SDK:

Monitoring Google Chrome using the Chrome Content Analysis Connector Agent SDK on Windows endpoints (broadcom.com)

Refer below link for configuring this connector -

Configuring Google Chrome Monitoring for Windows Endpoints Using the Google Chrome Content Analysis Connector Agent SDK

The new Chrome Content Analysis method should work to monitor these file uploads.
