Issue/Introduction

When configuring an Oracle database connection during the Identity Manager installation, you may encounter an "Invalid Database Connection Information" error. This error often occurs due to the use of unsupported special characters within the database password.

Environment

Identity Manager 14.5

Cause

Certain special characters in an Oracle database password can cause connection strings to parse incorrectly during the installation process, leading to the "Invalid Database Connection Information" error. Unsupported characters include: # (at the start), \, ", ', backtick (`), $, and !.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, perform the following steps:

  1. Verify that the database credentials (Host name, Port, Service Username) are accurate.
  2. Reset the Oracle database password to exclude unsupported special characters.
    • Avoid using: # (at the beginning), \, ", ', backtick (`), $, and !.
  3. Re-enter the database connection information in the installation screen using the updated password without special characters.
  4. Proceed with the installation.
