Can SYSEXEC datasets be compressed while OPS/MVS is running?

Issue/Introduction

One of our OPS/REXX PDS datasets needs to be compressed or reallocated.

Just a quick question, can OPS/MVS tolerate SYSEXEC dataset(s) being compressed (using IEBCOPY with DISP=SHR) without shutting down the product?

Resolution

SYSEXEC datasets should not be compressed while OPS/MVS is running. It is recommended to only perform this action while OPS/MVS is down.
