Issue/Introduction

We use the Import/export functionality in the Policy Manager GUI to export an API Policy from a testing environment and import it into our Production environment.

If we do this for a policy that is currently live in Production, will it impact API consumers?

Environment

Gateway 10.X 11.X

Resolution

NO

How it  works:

When you're making changes to an existing API manually OR by importing, those changes are shown in the Policy Manager at the time of import. However, they do not affect any API calls until you click Save and Active.  At that time, the changes are applied and the GW cache and database are updated.

If you close the API without saving you would be prompted to save any changes

If you Yes then API will be replaced and affect clients,. If you click No it would be reverted back

OR if you do not want the changes to be active, click Save only this will save the changes in history BUT not activate for the endpoint

In order to active you need you right click on the endpoint and select “Reversion History”

Note that the active API is the older version, to active any other version click on it, then client Set Active
