Policy import progress bar stuck at 0% even though policies are imported

Issue/Introduction

You are importing a small number of policies on one of the primary site nodes in a PAM cluster. When you run the import, the progress bar stays at 0% and the import appears to be stuck. You have to close the policy import UI. But when you check the session logs afterwards, you find that all policies in the import file were processed and either added or updated.

If the number of imported policies is larger, the progress bar may get stuck anywhere between 0 and 100%.

Environment

Affects PAM releases up to 4.1.6

Cause

This is not a generic problem, but in at least one environment the PHP runtime environment could not find a utility method that was included implicitly only in the class handling a cluster notification at the end of the policy import.

Resolution

The problem is expected to be fixed in 4.1.7+ and 4.2+. However, note that the import actually is successful. The policies will be there and the session log will show messages for all policies in the import file. Only at the very end does PAM run into an error, preventing the UI from closing out the import.
