SPE Installation aborts: Error while setting up Rest API Service and centralized UI password parameter value

Issue/Introduction

While installing or upgrading to SPE 9.1, the installation abruptly aborted with error box:  Install aborted:  Error while setting up Rest API Service and centralized UI password parameter value.

 

Cause

The password provided during installation was created by a password generation program:  The password contained one or both of the following special characters.

>    { not valid to use as per SPE 9.x password requirements }

<    { not valid to use as per SPE 9.x password requirements }

&   { this character is supposed to be a valid special character but currently causes the install to fail }

Resolution

Use the SPE 9 password requirements documentation as a guide for setting a valid password and avoid using the previously mentioned character that should be accepted but is not.
