Issue/Introduction

Sometimes CA PAM is licensed as Perpetual. However this is a vague indication for what this implies in terms of support and timeframe.

Environment

CA PAM all versions

Resolution

If CA PAM license is marked as Perpetual this means you will be able to continue using the product for as long as you wish. That is, Perpetual means really so: there will be no hidden expiration dates and no limit to you using the product in the future.

However, Perpetual License has no implication in what regards support and updates. If there is no accompanying  maintenance contract or it is expired, you will not be entitled to product updates and patching, and of course not to general support (subject to Broadcom discretionality) and once the functioning product reaches its EOL/EOS you won't be able to upgrade it to a more recent and supported version unless maintenance is purchased. The old product, however, will continue to work unhindered.
