Issue/Introduction

The VIPDiagnostics.bat tool displays the error "proxy host is unreachable" when an HTTP proxy is configured in the VIP Enterprise Gateway console when multiple NIC cards and IP addresses are configured on the VIP Enterprise Gateway server.

Cause

The VIP Enterprise Gateway Enterprise Gateway server has multiple NIC cards and IP addresses and the VIPDiagnostics.bat utility is attempting to connect to the HTTP proxy using the wrong NIC.

For example, NIC 1 may be assigned IP address 192.168.1.2 for remote access, while NIC 2 is assigned 10.10.12.115  for proxy connectivity to the proxy Host IP at 10.121.11.213. Here, VIP Enterprise Gateway Enterprise Gateway authentication traffic will be correctly sent to the IP address 10.121.11.213 as configured in Settings > HTTP Proxy Settings.

The "proxy host is unreachable error occurs when the VIPDiagnostic.bat tool attempts to send the proxy connection test to 10.121.11.213 through NIC 1. If authentication traffic is successfully reaching the VIP Cloud, this is a false-positive error.

Resolution

Temporarily disabling the non-proxy NIC will allow the VIPDiagnostic.bat tool to properly direct the proxy.

The VIP team is aware of this behavior and is working on a solution.
