Issue/Introduction

There are three levels of line item summarization available. This Knowledge Base article will identify these levels and explain the difference in the line item summarization level.

Resolution

MICS Accounting and Chargeback provides a number of options for customizing the Consolidated Invoice. With these options you define the style of the invoice, including what columns appear, and what supplemental reports are printed. A combination of options defining an invoice style is called an Invoice Format.

Three Invoice Formats are provided by MICS: Computation Code (COMPCODE), Invoice Category (INVCCAT) and Cost Center (COSTCTR). The major difference among these Invoice Formats is the level of detail shown on the invoice. The COMPCODE format provides the most detail, reporting charges summarized to the computation code and rate level. The INVCCAT format shows charges summarized to the invoice category level. The least-detailed invoice is provided by the COSTCTR format, which reports on charges summarized to the specified cost center level.

A fourth format, USER, allows the user to design invoices using their own SAS code. In addition, any of the existing formats may be copied and customized.

The Invoice Format Options panel (MWF;4;2;3;2;5) is used to select the default Invoice Format. This default can be overridden for a specific Cost Center in the Invoice Options Cost Center Selection panel (MWF;4;2;1;1;2).
