3970 abend at shutdown of an IDMS CV

Issue/Introduction

An IDMS CV encounters a 3970 abend at shutdown.

Just prior to the abend, the following message appears on the CV joblog:

DC027012 V1 OPERATING SYSTEM ABEND S0C4 HAS OCCURRED

Examining the dump reveals no PSW or register information in the CSECTACE, but TCESPPSW for the current TCE points into module ZSURSVC from Compress for MVS, a separate Broadcom product.

Environment

All supported releases.

Cause

A known cause of this problem is that Compress for MVS PTF LU10690 has recently been applied.

Resolution

Apply LU12234.
