Issue/Introduction

You need to apply the contents to dark clients (without internet). The content needs to be hosted on web server.

You can use the existing Symantec Endpoint protection manager (SEPM) or Liveupdate Administrator (LUA) directories to host content which can then be distributed to clients.

Resolution

Follow below steps to host the contents on Liveupdate Administrator (LUA):

  1. On LUA under Clu-prod folder, create a new folder  'Updates'. Download and extract the contents at the root level.
  2. Update the LUA URL in Liveupdate policy on SEPM as http://LUA IP:7070/clu-prod/Updates.
  3. Download the contents on clients/ SEPM.

Follow below steps to host the contents on Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM) :

  1.  Download the updates on SEPM that needs to be hosted.
  2.  Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\Inetpub
  3.  Create a new folder called 'Updates'
  4.  Extract all files to the newly created Updates folder.  All included files must be at the root of the Updates folder.
  5.  Create a new LiveUpdate policy in SEPM to point to the new folder  https://<SEPM_IP>/Updates
  6.  Do not include any other servers in this policy
  7.  Apply new LiveUpdate policy to affected groups
  8.  Run LiveUpdate on affected machines, or wait for them to run according to their schedule
  9.  Revert to the old Liveupdate policy once the updates are downloaded.
