Issue/Introduction

The Windows Server OS hosting the SPE install needs to be upgraded. What is the best way to complete the OS upgrade with SPE installed?

Environment

SPE 8.x, 9.x

Resolution

Here is the recommended procedure when upgrading the server OS on a SPE scanner server:

1. Uninstall SPE (the settings will be preserved).
2. Upgrade the OS.
3. Reinstall SPE and choose to use the previous settings.

If SPE needs to be upgraded as well,  use the recommended following additional steps:

1. Upgrade SPE.
2. Uninstall SPE (the settings will be preserved).
3. Upgrade the OS.
4. Reinstall SPE and choose to use the previous settings.
