Issue/Introduction

The command PRRNJCL,UPDATE=NO should show information but it comes out empty.

However, the command PRRNDEL,DAYS=0,UPDATE=NO, does list data on the screen.

This article explains why the command PRRNJCL,UPDATE=NO does not list information from Prior-Run queue.

Environment

CA 7 Workload Automation 12.1

Resolution

The PRRNJCL command can list and/or delete JCL or PARM data for jobs that are in the prior-run queue and have JCL or PARM data retained.

The JCL or PARM data is retained depending on the value of the RETAIN field in the DB.1 Panel.

When RETAIN-JCL=YES  the execution JCL is retained in the trailer queue after a successful run.

The jobs defined with  RETAIN-JCL=NO are not retained so not displayed by the  PRRNJCL command.

The command PRRNDEL,DAYS=20,UPDATE=YES will delete the jobs with an age of 20 or more days from the Prior-run queue. This will also delete JCL and PARM data for the jobs if they exist.
