Issue/Introduction

Why are we receiving message "XCOMU0474E XCOMD already running.  Multiple instances not supported."

Environment

XCOM™ Data Transport® for UNIX/Linux PC 

Resolution

If you get the message XCOMU0474E XCOMD already running. Multiple instances not supported when trying to bring up xcomd and xcomd is not actually running, bring xcomd down with the command

xcomd -cy

This will force xcomd down and clean up semaphores and anything else that needs to be cleaned up.
This command should not be used for normal shutdown, but only in emergency situations.

Then it will be possible to start xcomd again by entering

xcomd
