Issue/Introduction

Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) for Linux directory /opt/Symantec/sdcssagent/IPS has default permissions: drwxr-x--x (751)

Can the folder permissions be changed to 750 without affecting SEP functionality?

Resolution

The permissions should not be changed as it may affect the normal SEP functionality; like below:

  • Some of the file scripts require 751 permissions, for example enabling trace logging.
  • If the permissions are changed to 750 then users may not be able to configure the agent with options related to sisipsconfig.sh
